What is an Immigration Psychological Evaluation?
An immigration psychological evaluation is a detailed, court-ready mental health assessment used to support legal cases. Unlike standard therapy, the goal of this evaluation is to gather objective psychological evidence for immigration proceedings.
To make this process as accessible and stress-free as possible, all evaluations are conducted virtually via secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth.
Additionally, as a bilingual therapist, I conduct these evaluations fully in both English and Haitian Creole. This allows you to complete your assessment from the comfort and privacy of your own home, speaking directly in your preferred language without the added stress or cost of a third-party interpreter. Working closely with you and your attorney, I document the profound emotional and psychological impacts of your situation to strengthen your legal case.
Key Types of Evaluations I Provide:
Extreme Hardship Waivers (I-601/I-601A): Assessing how the deportation or separation of a family member would cause exceptional emotional and psychological suffering to a qualifying U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
Asylum Cases: Documenting the severe psychological impact, trauma, or PTSD resulting from past persecution or fear of future persecution in your home country.
VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) Petitions: Providing assessments for individuals who have experienced emotional, mental, or physical abuse by a U.S. citizen or permanent resident spouse, parent, or child.
U-Visas & T-Visas: Evaluating victims of severe crimes (U-Visa) or human trafficking (T-Visa) who have suffered substantial physical or mental abuse and are cooperating with law enforcement.
What to Expect From the Telehealth Process:
Virtual Clinical Interviews: We will meet online for 2 to 3 hours (in English or Haitian Creole) to discuss your history and mental health symptoms in a safe, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed virtual environment.
Psychological Assessment: I utilize validated screening tools during our video sessions to accurately measure symptoms like anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
Collaboration: I collaborate directly with your legal counsel to ensure the final report aligns with your specific legal strategy and meets court standards.
The Final Report: You and your attorney will receive a comprehensive, objective, multi-page professional document in English detailing my clinical findings, diagnoses, and treatment recommendations.
